100th Anniversary "Gramminy 2009" Christmas Parade

This year we are excited to Together! is short for Hear, See and Live Your Belief in God!

During the "9:09" SOMETHING NEW FOR KIDS DURING “THE 9:09"
Beginning in March 2009, kids in kindergarten through 2nd grade are invited to leave part way through "The 9:09" for a new children's ministry opportunity. After the music and prayer time, we will sneak out and use the last half hour of the service to learn about God's love in a kid friendly setting!

10:30 - 10:50 am

3 year olds through 5th grade will join together in a combined opening in the lower level of the Education Building (B06-B08), now remodeled and known as the Jungle Room. Students will celebrate God’s love and learn to with exciting songs, puppets and drama, led by older youth volunteers!

10:50 - 11:40 am

      (pre-school - sr. high students)
Pre-school through 5th grades break into groups by age and grade level to dig into the Bible and learn about people just like ourselves that decided to Hear, See and Live out their belief in God. It's exciting and new, and you won't want to miss it! Small Group locations and team leaders are listed at the end of this page.

Junior and Senior High Students (6th-12th grades) also gather for small group time. The Jr. High students have their own personalized lounge in the basement and Sr. High students meet in the Youth house, which is located next to the church.

These two small groups meet throughout the school year. They typically study 4-10 week series on a large range of topics from making Godly life choices to inductive walk-throughs of specific books of the Bible. Our hope is to help students look at the world, their life, daily choices, and goals through the eyes of Jesus Christ.

11:40-11:45

We desire to equip parents to be the primary Christian educators for their children. Sunday School should be a supplement to what is being taught at home. Each week, please come down to our new parent lounge in the basement, pick up the Story of the week, and take it home to read to your kids. It is our gift to you so that you can begin to compile your own Christian library at home. Your kids’ Sunday School projects will also be displayed in the lounge.

Stop down, check out your kids’ accomplishments, and pick up a book each week.
Spend a few minutes every night reading the story, going over the memory verse and praying with your child.

- FAMILY TIME CHALLENGE -

Don't miss out on having family time centered around God's Word. It's the most important thing you can do to prepare kids (and YOURSELF) to be strong in this life. Throughout this 2009-2010 season, we are having multiple 5-6 week competitions between families to encourage FAMILY TIME! Each week, families are challenged to read the Bible story that corresponds to what children are learning in small group time. There are 2 questions that go with each story. There is also a bonus verse that families can learn together. As your family takes time to read a story each week, answer two questions, and learn a verse per month, you will get points! And, whichever family gains the most points wins a family prize!

If you would like to jump into a Family Time Competition, a winner will be announced and a new contest will begin on each of the following dates:

Sunday, November 1st
Sunday, December 13th
Sunday, January 24th
Sunday, February 28th
Sunday, April 14th
Sunday, May 9th

Simply stop by the Registration Station in the basement of the church to get signed up!

You’ll be amazed at how much YOU learn!

Sunday Class For Adults

The following ongoing class will be offered while other adult classes are being revisited for the upcoming year:

  • "Scriptures for Today", which will meet during the "9:09" service. The class focuses on the study and application of the four Scripture passages chosen for the lectionary each Sunday.

  • If you have only recently begun to attend First Pres. and/or are new to the Christian faith, you are invited to attend a new casual venue get-together during the 10:45 service. This is a great place to get to know others and to find out more about FPC while talking about life and faith. The group will meet in the lowest level of the Education Building, and, yes, refreshments will be served.
